One of the most visually interesting thing to do with fractals is a real-time zoom into an area of the fractal.  That is, simulate zooming into an area of the fractal set from the top level.  Because one can zoom infinitely into fractal, one could, in theory, zoom into a fractal forever.  However, most fractal generators have a limited amount of precision (ie. how big, or little a number can be).  This limit also caps how far the software can zoom into a fractal.  Here are some pre computed videos of fractal zooms.  The longest zoom possible with the software I've written is just over 30 seconds.

My first attempt at putting together a Fractal zoom movie.  Contains a few Fractal zooms mixed together and set to music.
This is my test run at seeing how well I could put together such composition.  Now that is this complete, I have begun work on a 4 minute movie.
The music for this movie is an original peace composed and performed by David "Guy" Guernsey. The music is a clip from "Shades of a Different Meaning" and part of Guy's solo works done under the name "Thorn Crown Empire".  It was recorded at the Garage Studio's "Area 40" and mixed by Andrew Que.

This zoom was converted to MPEG at very high quality and is one of the best zoom I have to date.  Due to the quality, the movies are larger.

Created with a latter version of my Fractal software-- the zoom is now centered.

Creating the zooms here is a 3 stage process.  First, a location of the fractal to zoom into is picked out and a zoom file is created.  Then, the zoom file is translated into an .AVI file.  Finally, the .AVI file is converted into an MPEG movie.  The first two steps are done using my software.  The MPEG movies ether MPEG-1 or MPEG-4 (also called as DivX).  MPEG-1 conversation was done with AVI2MGP1 written by John Schlichther.  The MPEG-4 conversation is a two part process.  The AVI to MPEG-2 conversion was done with TMPGEnc written by Hiroyuki Hori.  The MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 conversion was done with FlasKMPEG by Alberto Vigata.  Codecs for MPEG-4 are available here.
The Fractal movies were assembled in Adobe Premier.  Some animation was done using Jasc Animation Shop.
